A German once visited a temple under construction where he saw a sculptor making an idol of God. Suddenly he noticed a similar idol lying nearby. Surprised, he asked the sculptor, "Do you need two statues of the same idol?" "No," said the sculptor without looking up, "We need only one, but the first one got damaged at the last stage." The gentleman examined the idol and found no apparent damage. "Where is the damage?" he asked. "There is a scratch on the nose of the idol." said the sculptor, still busy with his work. "Where are you going to install the idol?"

The sculptor replied that it would be installed on a pillar twenty feet high. "If the idol is that far, who is going to know that there is a scratch on the nose?" the gentleman asked. The sculptor stopped his work, looked up at the gentleman, smiled and said, "I will know it."

With all the continuous work by Google in different fields, countries. I just saw new feature from Google. Its called
Google Phone (Voice) Search

What you need to do is just dial (from any phone/mobile)

1-800-41-999-999 (Toll Free)

This service is currently in very Initial stage and the service is currently available in Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore of-course. The service currently supports Hindi, English and Telugu.

According to Google India, the service will provide the real time results for Movie timings, Realtime flight status etc. The results will be sent to the Mobile as an SMS.

There may be some issues and the service may not be available all the time but the main thing is the innovation behind the thoughts from Google!

I saw a guy who tried to copy Palash.. but i must say.. a nice attempt and equally good. :)

the person who clicked this picture shares his view::-"I took an afternoon hike in the remote area of Java just outside the town of Jogjakarta to explore this temple. It's called Prambanan, and it was built around 850 CE.The rain was pouring down, which left me and Will there pretty much alone, except for a few wild deer in the area. I waited through the rain because I knew if it cleared there would be a great sunset. I had a little baggy over my camera to keep it dry until everything passed...While waiting on the rain to stop, I walked around and did more up close exploration of the temples of Vishnu, Shiva, and Brahma, which were three of the largest in the complex. All the temple blocks were on the edge of collapse, after many centuries of Indonesian earthquakes and volcanic eruptions."

This has happened a long time back (15 Jul 2007). I couldn't get the above pic into my PC. :(
But i always wanted to feel pride that i am also contributing to this and i am also from The City Beautiful :-)

As if the tag of being the country's greenest and cleanest city was not enough, Chandigarh is all set to add another feather to its cap.

Chandigarh is not the First Smoke Free City

A special drive has been launched that keeps an eye to prevent the smoking at various places. Restaurants, hotels, colleges, schools, government offices and markets are some of the places where smoking will not be permitted unless special provision hs been made in places like restaurants and hotels.
Smoking is permitted outside such areas, in private homes and lawns, but disposal of cigaratte butts has to be done.
An awareness campaign has been carried out in this regard and sign boards have been put up at appropriate places as on i clicked above. :-)

Raksha Bandhan (the bond of protection in Hindi) or Rakhi (राखी in Devanāgarī) is a Hindu and Sikh festival, which celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters. It is celebrated on the full moon of the month of Shraavana.
The festival is marked by the tying of a rakhi, or holy thread by the sister on the wrist of her brother. The brother in return offers a gift to his sister and vows to look after her. Indian history is replete with women asking for protection, through rakhi, from men who were neither their brothers, nor Hindus themselves. Rani Karnavati of Chittor sent a rakhi to the Mughal Emperor Humayun when she was threatened by Bahadur Shah of Mewar. Humayun abandoned an ongoing military campaign to ride to her rescue.

Origins

Draupadi and Krishna during the Rajsuya yagya - After Shishupal's death, Krishna was left with a bleeding finger. Draupadi, the wife of the Pandavas, had torn a strip of silk off her sari and tied it around Krishna's wrist to stop the flow of blood. Touched by her concern, Krishna had declared himself bound to her by her love. He further promised to repay the debt many fold. Many years later when Draupudi was about to be shamed by being disrobed in front of the whole court by her evil brother-in-law Duryodhana, she called on Krishna to help her, and he did by divinely elongating her sari so it could not be removed.
